Methodology & transparency
A comparison is only as good as its sources and its honesty. Here is where the data comes from, how the price level is derived and how I handle cooperation partners.
Where the data comes from
Every entry comes from an official primary source: the website of the respective university, the HRK Hochschulkompass, the accreditation registers (the Accreditation Council, FIBAA, AQ Austria, the Swiss Accreditation Council) and official statistics. For each university I link these sources directly on the profile page so that you can check every statement yourself.
Every profile page carries a date. Where values change continually, such as student numbers, I give a rounded range instead of a false precision that quickly goes out of date. The information provided by the university itself is always binding.
How the euro scale is derived
Tuition fees are hard to compare one to one between providers, because the models, durations and services differ. That is why, in addition to the specific, dated price, I show a relative price level of one to five euro signs (1 low, 5 high).
The scale is relative within the comparison and takes the whole package into account, not just the monthly fee. It is not an absolute price. The specific, sourced figure is always given on the respective profile page.
How I handle cooperation partners
Some of the universities compared here are cooperation partners of my study-advisory network (Studienflüsterer). This is disclosed: partner universities are marked as such in the comparison and on their profile page.
This marking does not change the facts. Partners receive no polished figures, no better price levels and no preferential treatment in how they are presented. For all universities, the data comes from the same primary sources, under the same rules. That is exactly why the partnership is made transparent and not hidden.
Responsibility
The Hochschulnavigator is a project of Ritter Bildungs- und Digitalberatung (Balgach, Switzerland). Behind the analysis is Lars Ritter, a study adviser with his own university network and an ongoing doctorate. The closeness to the study advisory is disclosed; the analysis remains neutral and source-based.
Found an error?
Data goes out of date, providers change their programmes. If an entry looks wrong or outdated to you, write to me. I check it and correct it with a source.
